Short and sweet and very very cute. Alix E Harrow does magic well.

Hugo 2019 Best Short Story: Winner

The craziest short story! About a librarian who takes notice of one of her patrons, a depressed-looking boy who needs escapism. I love stories about library and fantasy. Portal Fantasies? Just sign me in!

A truly lovely story about the power of stories, as read from here: https://apex-magazine.com/a-witchs-guide-to-escape-a-practical-compendium-of-portal-fantasies/

Oh, my. This is what a short story, at its best, can be. Found a link to this story (free, Apex magazine) by chance in a GR user's review of one of Harrow's novels and now I am overcome with the need to read more of the words that have come from this author's head. Wow.
