A train carrying food and toys for children can't make it over a mountain. The toys get out and try to solicit help from other trains, but only a Little Blue Engine stops and helps. Although she is small, she believes in herself and conquers the mountain to bring all of the cargo to the good children.

A classic picture book about resilience and kindness. 4 stars for the updated copy of the book, with illustrations by Dan Santat.

We actually received this last month as the first book from Dolly Parton's Imagination Library! the new illustrations are wonderfully bright (I do not have a classic version to compare to, but I recall how well the "good food" was illustrated and this fits the tone). The little toy clown is not creepy here!

The Little Engine That Could is a book every student needs to read at a very young age. It is a book about a train that doesn't think it can make it up a big hill.

I like this book because it will teach my students that when you don't think you can't do something all you have to do is try. You can turn your can't to I can.
