7/10. I was expecting this to be more of a romance book, but there wasn't even a hint of romance between the main characters until about 3/4ths of the way through. Also, there was zero resolution considering the characters confess their sudden love for each other on the very last page. I liked the story of Alex and Molly becoming friends, especially since neither character had any close friends previously but it didn't feel romantic, just platonic, until the very end. There was barely any hint of attraction or questioning until more than halfway through. Additionally, Alex was a difficult character to like. I know she was supposed to be a work-in-progress but she was too prickly for me.

I wanted to stay up late reading this and had to force myself to go to bed and save more reading for another day! I liked the short chapters and the dual POVs from Molly and Alex. They’re so freaking cute with their banter!!

The novel is marketed as She’s All That meets What if it’s Us but the synopsis made me immediately think of the classic 80s movie Some Kind of Wonderful.

Their characters are so well written and they’re both book lovers, even better 🥰 I also appreciated the anxiety rep, and found myself relating a lot to Molly! Loved the character development throughout the book as well. I laughed, giggled, and cried throughout the book. The romance is a sloooow burn just how I like!

LOVE that the authors are married 😭🥰 Lippincott’s other works are on my TBR and Derrick published Forget Me Not this year which I’ve been seeing rave reviews for (I can’t wait to read more from them both). Honestly so so cute they wrote a book together and dedicated it to their relationship/one another 💗 The book is friends to lovers and that’s also the authors romance story 🥹

The ending was good, if a tiny bit rushed which is why I didn’t give it 5 stars. It’s for sure a favorite and one I’ll be recommending often! A sweet, feel good sapphic romance that doesn’t revolve around coming out which is always a nice change 💗

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 (4.5/5)

Tropes: Enemies to friends to lovers, dating/relationship coach, slow burn

Rep: WLW romance with both MCs identifying as lesbian, 1 MC is half-Korean and has social anxiety

The bit with Alex at the end felt a little like a bad dramatic movie to me and there were parts of the book where I couldn't bring myself to read more than 2 pages.

Literally loved this book so much. I really loved the chemistry between the two characters and the way their relationships developed as the story progressed. The slow build up to them realizing they have feelings for one another was so well written. I think it makes it even better that the authors for this book are a married couple as well! The last quarter of the book made me cry (positively) and i think this is one of my fav books to come out from the month of May 2023!
