Very YA style of writing. There's a lack of depth to a lot of the background for the main characters. For starter's Alex's failing relationship drives the plot, yet we know so little of that relationship. When the climactic scene brings a heated argument between the two, we barely understand what's going on because we are so starved for historical context between these two. Also, if a major flaw/barrier for Molly is going to be her mother's racial background, her racial background shouldn't be suddenly introduced 2/3rds into the book. Plus, she never unpacks this although she claims to be more comfortable with her race than her mother. Specifically, at the end of the novel, Molly is so disinterested and apathetic about discussions of others' experience of race and America at an art gallery. Booooooo (*throwing tomatoes*). Also is it really diverse and queer if somehow everyone on the women's rugby team is a long-haired feminine sapphic?

I enjoyed this. I really like both of the characters and their issues and watching them overcome them, and the fact that it's written by a married couple is adorable.
I was incredibly nervous toward the end because Molly is Alex's only friend. Molly has been reaching out and making friends with a supportive family to fall back on but if they date and it goes bad, she has no one. That stressed me out but having Jim step in and her mom in rehab made it better and the finale was just so cute.

Recomendado queda.
