Interesting, but kind of odd that in a book about the Bronx, only two people affiliated with hip-hop were interviewed.

I received this book from a Goodreads Giveaway.
I really enjoyed reading this book especially being that I am from Staten Island, NY. If my dad were alive he would especially love reading this book. He loved New York City and worked throughout the five boroughs and lived in the Bronx at one time or another. I wish he were here so that I could share some of these stories.

Enjoyed this book from beginning to end. Especially liked how interviews went in chronological order. Got flavor of the Bronx throughout the decades. Favorite story was where author talked to two elderly gentlemen who were friends since childhood. Asked them the same questions, and go their perspective on their memories. As a family historian this resonated the American immigrant and changing story.

I so very much loved this book, one thing that would have meant it was perfect would have been content warning at the beginning of some of the entries as going from a very pleasant interview to one talking frankly about abuse was quite jarring (but also that's in no way a bad thing, those stories absolutely need to be told)
(EDIT: i actually can't stop thinking about it so i bumped it to 5 stars but pls keep in mind what i mentioned before)

Highly enjoyable as an audiobook - mostly read by Alan and Arlene Alda, with other guests as well.
