Couldn't put it down!
Had to buy book 2 immediately after book 1! The chemistry if the characters and the lives hanging in the balance in each!

Sadly, this was not a good sequel. I appreciated the anticipation building up to Dante and Layla reuniting but it was a bit of a let down seeing as he automatically forgave her. I didn't like that he immediately wanted her to be this badass, bad-mouth woman that he fell in love with. I didn't feel like she actually healed from the trauma she was put through. I do love that Dante is so devoted but the blow-up that they had was minuscule because of how much he refused to let her go again. Even though Layla appreciated being doted on in some ways she kept pushing boundaries to do what she wanted.
Anatolij being her father was a bit surprising and then it was made weird because her cousin was interested in her and in love with her. He didn't find out until the end that they could be nothing more. Killing Morte, who controlled the hit, was anticlimactic. Overall, this book felt disjointed to me because part of it wanted to continue as if Layla hadn't betrayed Dante.

This was a wonderful wrap up. I was sad it actually ended.
This was such a good read. There were twists and turns, I didn't want to put it down. The connection and love between Layla and Dante is strong but really gets tested in this book. Secrets keep being revealed and the plot was very intriguing.
This series is a definite must read.

Stressed. That’s the best way to describe how I felt through the whole book. There was so much happening and with the two POVs with both characters doing different things in different places it was intense. The plot twists actually make me sick to my stomach with how much is happening. It was a good book.
The missing finger never gets mentioned which is weird to me… her aunt who is so against the mafia and all that doesn’t say anything about her very fresh open wound?
Why did Dante never say anything to Layla about Grace kissing him (while he was piss drink) she should have got her ass beat for that tbh.
I wish we could have had a longer or I guess more in the future epilogue. Not just a rush wedding where he cousin and Ant are now living in Chicago with no further mention of anything.

I said it about the first one and I'll say it about this one too. It was great. I really love a good mafia romance. Would definitely recommend.
