SpoilerThe Emperor request that Maamao treat Consort Lihua as she still has not recovered from the poisonous makeup. It turns out one of her ladies-in-waiting is still putting the makeup on Consort Lihua at one point asks Maomao why didn’t she just let her die. It’s the frist time we see her speak after being bed ridden so it is especially chilling/saddening to me. Eventually Consort Lihau does recover but is feeling uncertain about how to regain the Emperor’s attention since her son passed away and she has been sick for so long. Maomao then gives her some advice that she knows because she is from the pleasure distinct. This is followed by the Garden Banquet where we meet Consort Lishu the youngest consort and the one who is being bullied by her ladies-in-waiting. In fact one of the food tasters taste the fish that Consort Lishu is allergic to but says nothing. Maomao taste poisons for the first time in a while and is in bliss which is shocking that others don’t believe that the dish holds any poison. And one of them even tries the soup leaving them paralyzed temporarily. Maomao also receives a hairpin from Consort Gyokoyo, Consort Lihua, Jinshi, and a soldier named Lihako.
