The Villain I Love And Hate

This was quite the ride. L.J. Shen did it again with this one. I gobbled it up in less than a day.
Cillian was hilarious. I didn’t think he would be as funny as he was. But I laughed so much at the thoughts running through his head when he interacted with people. He was intense and so broken. Like with Hunter, there were times where I wanted to give up on him, but then he pulled me back in. He’s my kind of tortured, morally gray character. I felt bad for him, I hated him, and then I absolutely loved him. I went through so many emotions with Cillian, I got whiplash.
Persephone was so… hopeful. She believes in love, souls, and happily ever afters. I found myself believing in them right along with her. While she was a strong character, there were times that her strength left her, but she would find it again. Her love for Cillain pushed her through the hardships they faced. I loved watching her grow and realize what she deserved.
Their chemistry was a raging inferno. I loved them together.
I can’t wait to read the next book in The Boston Belles.

I thought i had Cillian all worked out when I read about him in The hunter, but I was so wrong. On every level. He is known as The Villain in the media as he appears to have no feelings whatsoever to anything and everyone, but looks can be deceiving. Cillian doesn't show his feelings for a very good reason and when he meets Persephone he is sent into orbit and he doesn't like it one bit.
Persephone is kind, caring, nurturing and is so infatuated with Cillian from a young age. When Cillian saves her life at Hunter and Sailor's wedding and then he rebuffs her,she is thrown into the arms of someone else on the rebound.
Fast forward a few years and she goes to him for help to save her life again, only this time he wants more from her than normal repayment.

This book had me gripped and as with all LJ Shen's books I was absorbed right up until the end and didn't want it to finish. I am now sitting here unable to even contemplate opening another book until I've come to terms with this one.
