Our protagonist Lauren has, essentially, a real life dating app in her attic, and uses it to cycle through hundreds upon husbands for herself at the drop of a hat. It’s a catchy little start to the book, no?
Hundreds of husbands later though, this premise goes on and on and on starts to feel never-ending rather than charming. Lauren meets several contenders for long-term partnership and passes or sabotages them endlessly. After a while you kind of expect the book to hint at a theme or eventual conclusion but no, it ends right where it starts and quite abruptly.
Truly, I never really felt like I could root for Lauren. I was hoping she might gain some insight into herself along the way, learn about her own patterns, learn about what she wants. But there’s a severe lack of introspection here on the protagonist’s and author’s part. I suspect Gramazio has soft launched a screenplay with this book because the prose really was bare bones, and I hungry for so much more. Sadly, I felt this was a tad shallow for my tastes but good if you want a simple, surface level comedy with an unhinged vibe.

Easy to read. Funny, unique, madcap. Spent a good-ish amount of time wondering where the story was going to end up, which is basically what the main character was wondering as well. It ended up having a light-heartedly sobering message about making choices and living with them.
