I LOVED this mythical story, filled with so many unexpected twists. I tried so many times to predict the ending and was wrong every time. Super fun and extremely creative story line, and even made me laugh a few times. I tend to be drawn to stories of time travel and parallel timelines so this was easily 5 stars from me!

nothing like a good read in one sitting during a crazy long flight book

I understand why Lauren was perpetually single before the attic started granting her husbands. She's a terrible partner. When having to fulfill the harder tasks of marriage with her second-to-last husband, Zach, all she did was complain that he was more popular than she was. It's very superficial and all about her. She simply was not ready for a serious relationship and didn't deserve the absurd amount of sweet and caring husbands she received. By the time Zach came around I was fully fed up with Lauren's ungratefulness and attitude and can't say I was really rooting for her (I'm not sure how you even would, though — she's spoiled with infinite chances to find the perfect husband, so what is she really struggling to achieve?).

My biggest gripe was that this novel never felt like it went anywhere. The premise was established and nothing diverging happened after that. Lauren did not grow at all over the course of the book. I expected a turn when Bohai showed up, but she just gained a friend and continued doing the same thing. This is where I started wondering where this book was going, and tragically it went basically nowhere. No solution to the attic was found until the book just stopped, very abruptly.

I really enjoyed the concept but it needed a bit more cooking to be executed in a meaningful fashion that didn't stagnate halfway through. The writing was good and humorous, but the plot was lacking.
