Meh. Middle grade, but the character diversity felt very heavy handed.
Baby’s first crush/romance.
Nice inclusion of disappointment: not being cast in the musical, but finding other ways (crew) to have a great time.
Powerful side-plot of the high school bully getting sidelined for his bigotry.
Nice moments, nothing wrong with it, but not a book I’d choose for a class novel nor book study.

Green is navigating life as a non-binary person who has a crush on a cis het boy and is also dealing with changes happening to their body as puberty hits. This is the third Melissa series book.

This wasn't my favorite. The writing felt lazy and like there needed to be more. I felt like I was being preached to at times. I appreciated the wide cast of characters and that they're all experiencing different things.
