This is a cute, fluffy story more of friendship than anything. There is romance too, but it seems to me to be the secondary theme. I appreciate that because the romance happens sort of naturally. It does fall into some of the traps of the romance genre, but it was overall enjoyable.

Stayed up till 3:37am in the morning just to finish this book and it felt like a dream that I don’t want to wake up from...

It’s such a delight and I didn’t want this book to end... Now I just want to relive this dream by reading from page 1 again.

This was a lovely embodiment of so many Great Gatsby and Pride & Prejudice vibes whilst being something completely of it's own creation.

Firstly, the cover is gorgeous. But aside from that, Laura Wood does a deliciously wonderful job of creating a wholly immersive and dreamy roaring 20s environment, especially when it comes to the parties. It was so much fun to read. The characters are full of life and have such wonderfully strong personalities. Lou is so very relatable and Robert is so very swoon-worthy.

One of the most interesting parts of this book was that I consider it to be a very light read. Maybe I've been reading too much fantasy lately, but for such a whimsical setting the only true conflict in this story was that of reality. I found it refreshing and very appropriate for this type of story.

Now I'm left over here wishing that I could go to a wild Gatsby-esque party of my own.

Never thought I’d find myself in love with historical fiction. After reading the first few chapters I already knew this book would get five stars from me. Laura Wood knew how to intrigue me with her prose fiction, and seasoning bits of beautiful quotes from The Great Gatsby—another one of my favourite reads.

I loveeeee the vibes this book has. From beginning to end, it fulfilled my nature, cottagecore desires and luxurious castle dreams. Lou’s love with the tide is so admirable. I also adored the relationship she has with her sister, Alice, and how lovely the Trevelyan family is. This reminded me so much of the Studio Ghibli movie When Marnie was There

The little touch of romance kept this book so exciting, love a good slow burn! Call it an enemies-to-lovers trope if you will. Also, Laurie was such a surprise at the end I literally screamed. Another win for the gays ;)

I would definitely sell my soul to read this book again for the first time.
