This was such a lovely read! Absolutely adored Lou and Robert, and the world the author created.
my comfort book. you know i’m getting sad when i read this bc it just makes everything ok again :)
It feels like it's been so long since I read a good historical YA. This one was just plain adorable and made me so, so happy. Lou is definitely naive, and Caitlin at times felt a little bit too much like a distant party girl but I loved Robert. Plus, it's set in Cornwall in the 20s and frequently mentions Agatha Christie.
This book is less about the romance and more about a girl finding herself and making friends in unlikely places. The romance is a very slow progression to the point that I didn't know if anything would ever happen! That being said, the rest of the book is still fabulous. You can't help but love the characters. I just wish I had more time with them.
An incredibly pleasant read. I initially picked this book up because the back refers to it as “I Capture The Castle meets Gatsby” and I Capture The Castle happens to be one of my favorite books. That description did not disappoint. This book was lovely in every way possible, as well incredibly impactful.
As you can tell, I loved this book. As I write this, I have faint tears in my eyes. Thank you Laura Wood, I am forever grateful.

It was fun and easy to read. I really fell in love with the characters and the subtle mystery and tension that was throughout the whole book. Very similar vibe to the Great Gatsby but definitely worth the read.
I was enthralled by A Sky Painted Gold by Laura Wood. Set in the 1920s, this story grabs you from the beginning with the lovable main character Lou. All she wants is a taste of the world outside of her sleepy Cornish village. When several rowdy carloads of bright young things show up at the once-abandoned home of a well-known socialite, the summer takes a turn for the better. Will she ever be able to return to "normal" life when the summer ends?
Achei um livro bem honesto e fofo pra quem também curtiu The Great Gatsby e I Capture The Castle.
