A great book, more of a murder mystery than a spy novel, and although it has Smiley at its centre, he isn't in the Circus so it doesn't have any of the rest of his team in it which is a little disappointing. Still a ruddy good book though.

Early Le Carre.  Hints of Smiley and his espionage but this book is more of a whodunnit.  Compact and with dead ends and false ends.  You can very much see how Le Carre developed Smiley from one of his earliest outings in print.

I really liked the setting and some of the characters. But listening to it on the train didn't really work for me. This deserved a day off, a coffee and a quiet corner somewhere. Will get round to reading the next one.
