It took me a while to really get into this book. But once I got past the start, I couldn't put it down. It has perhaps a few too many story lines and is therefore dragged out a bit, but it's mixed with some great suspense that keeps you reading.

I think in general I'm too generous with my star ratings. I liked this book better than the Twilight series overall, although some of the same silly elements exist in this novel. Meyers has a much more robust story here with moral and ethical dilemmas that kept me reading to see what happens. I don't really consider myself a feminist but I do love to read about female characters that have the same depth and strength of character that I find in the real-life women I know, and I feel satisfied with what I found in the story. A few elements in the plot seemed sketchy to me, but I was willing to overlook them to get to the hopeful ending.

The best thing I can say about this book is, "It's not as bad as Twilight."

I reread this quite often. Although I have fallen out of love with twilight I always revisit this. The story is good and original and the characters are nice. The only not nice things are the extreme age differences between the male love interests and the female.

One of my favorites! It makes you rethink your idea of aliens and invasion, I love how Wanderer (the alien) and Melany (the host/human) start battling, and slowly learn how to lean on each other. I think the concept is fresh and new, but I think the acting and how much they leave out in the movie is really frustrating.

Surprised how much I enjoyed it. I worked it would be more action filled based on the premise and beginning but it's more a drama. Only hated Jared really. I think this was really well done. I guess the only weak point was the other aliens Meyer came up with. Not great, but it worked and I kind of wish she had finished more books in this world.

I went into this book with really low expectations, since I had already read the Twilight series (and hadn't enjoyed it much). I thought this would be a cheesy novel with unbelievable characters. I only read it because I was on vacation and had already finished all the books I had brought along.
This was my last resort.
I was genuinely surprised by this book. I thought the plot was original and intriguing. The book wasn't romance-driven and had many other aspects to it, unlike Twilight. The love triangle wasn't cliched. It was interesting, actually, since it was very complex and not really a love "triangle".
I liked the characters and enjoyed reading about them. Although I didn't get emotionally attached with them, I think this book was a huge step towards good writing for Stephenie.
The book was well written and VERY engaging
Enjoyed it loads! It definitely deserves 4 stars.

PS. I am really excited for the movie! I don't like the actress who plays Melanie/wanderer BUT MAX IRONS HOLY SHIT
