Book club choice - I wasn't really a fan. It was 150 pages I had to dredge through. Now, every thirty pages or so, there was something good and interesting, but the rest...not so much.
311 Seiten Bernhard. 311 Seiten Rausch. 311 Seiten Geistesexzess, Nihilismus und Rage. Ich glaube immer mehr, einen Bernhard kann man nicht rezensieren oder kritisieren. Ich kann dazu also nichts sagen. Tschüss.

Meni se lično malko više dopala Seča šume, što ne znači da ovoj nešto fali. Moram da spomenem da me je ovde Bernhard izvozao kroz sve moguće emocije i misli, počevši od toga da sam se smejala opisima Bečkih toaleta (i ujedno saosećala sa osobom koja žmureći ulazi u njih) pa sve do toga da mi je na trenutke teško bilo čitati kako se neko nosi sa smrću voljene osobe dok mu kućna pomoćnica razdire poslednje uspomene odnoseći ih u kesama za đubre. Tematika mi je u retkim trenucima bila pomalo nezanimljiva, pa stoga malo slabiji utisak, no sve u svemu - odličan!

Puuh... Noch nie sind mir 300 Seiten so unangenehm lang vorgekommen. Wer will schon über eine derartige Spanne dem Geschimpfe eines 82-jährigen folgen? Der Vorteil dieser sich ständig wiederholenden Zetereien: Man kann sich besser auf die Form konzentrieren und geht nicht so sehr im Inhalt verloren wie in anderen Romanen. Ist wohl nur für Germanisten interessant. War auch für mich eher eine Pflichtlektüre.

Finally got to read this one. Intellectual revue in the Arts Museum in Vienna. Hater’s gonna hate. Adalbert Stifter in the first place. Obviously. That is what we have in common. Neverending reminiscence of beer conversations with Waiders.
It all comes together beautifully here. The friendship, art, music, disgust, and humor -- Bernhard marshals it all. This might be the place to start. Still very challenging though.
