This book was REALLY confusing. I had a hard time understanding the differing point of views and even had to draw out a "family tree" to figure who was related to whom. The relationships between all of the characters seemed very superficial...and, as an audience member I felt like we never got to know the characters either.

The way this mystery/romance novel was set up I kept trying to figure out who was related to who. For a while I really thought some of the characters who were set up to fall in love were half siblings. Turns out they’re not but it gave me the ick. The ending was nice though.

While a bit tangled, predictable and melodramatic, it was still a fast and enjoyable read.

One thing that disappointed me was that this was deemed “historical”. It’s really not. While it states the dates during which each chapter takes place, there is literally NOTHING about any of these time periods (Victorian Era, post-WWI and WWII) that has anything to do with the major historical events that would have been happening at the time. Any of these storylines could have been set at any time or place and it wouldn’t have effected the story at all. Since I like historical books, especially Victorian/Edwardian/Post-War, I was a bit disappointed. This focused entirely on melodrama and not at all on the time period.
