I feel like this is maybe not the best Ginsberg to start with

the quality of poems in this collection varies tremendously (if there is any to begin with). some of the poems that focused on non political topics were outright horrendous e.g. love comes:
"He fucked me in the East
he fucked me in the West
he fucked me South
my cock in his mouth
he fucked me North
No sperm shot forth"
the political poems such as "america" and "death to van gogh's ear!" were drastically better, substantially speaking. still found them a little terse and obselete; alot of it felt like continuous angry rambing against capitalism and there was an absurd amount of name-dropping, causing the poems to lose coherence.
overall, I could see the relevance of ginsberg in his time and understand the acclaim he receives but I personally couldn't resonate with this collection at all.

ginsberg really has a knack for postmodernist apocalyptic pictures in his poems, but he seems kinda limited philosophically to the naive hippie spirit

Might have been quite controversial back in the day, but it doesn’t tickle my fancy too much.

Not really for me I think I missed a lot of context and some just seemed like a bunch of random words to me. I did like the poem "I am a victim of telephone"

Had forgotten how much I liked Allen Ginsberg's poetry and this was the perfect little collection to remind me to get back into it.
