Powerful and informative. I appreciate that the author shared daily life of the Tutsi people in Rwanda while she was growing up. The 1994 genocide did not receive a lot of press or attention in the US so my knowledge/understanding was limited. This books is a survivor's experience.

A horrifying and harrowing memoir detailing the author's life growing up Tutsi and being one of the few survivors of the Rwandan genocide. Filled with the author's grief, unanswered questions, and detailed experiences. A difficult but essential read.

The subject matter was heavier than I was ready for. I will return to this book because I want to know, but only after I read some... happier books.
