This is a book I’m not sure how to rate. For what it is it’s perfectly good. It’s a contemporary, fairly light, family drama about an Indian American family from Texas. Much of the plot is driven by secrets, assumptions and not having a conversation in the way of many romance novels. It is also very much about cis het people finding a spouse, because being alone is the Worst. (ugh 🤦♀️) It’s also not very feminist. However I’m aware that much of my frustration at the layers of unexamined patriarchy are coming from my perspective as a wyt queer person. I don’t think this book was written for me.
