Wow I really loved this book. I finished in under a day and could not wait to continue when I had to step away. Somehow I love messy characters who make bad decisions, but for (mostly) good reasons and that just perfectly explains basically every single character in this book. It is character driven, but also the story keeps pulling you along so that you can't put it down until you know how all the secrets come out. I love this family dynamic, where they seem like a dysfunctional family on the outside, but they are just trying to survive and take care of each other in their own ways (which the others don't always see/understand). The audiobook heightened all the motions and really gave an extra layer and voice to these characters that I loved.

I liked this book more than I thought I would after the disappointment that it didn't take place in Ireland. Once I got over that, I really enjoyed the storyline and the character development. I only wish that there was a second book because I want to know more of what happens to the supporting characters. I listened to this audiobook through Net Galley for free for an honest review.

72/150. The Connelly’s of County Down
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
After Tara was released from jail after a drug trafficking charge she is working to integrate herself back into the real world. With a criminal record, trying to find a job and her position amongst her family isn’t as easy as she was hoping. Her brother is a single dad who suffered a brain injury, and her older sister, who has had to put her life on hold to care for her siblings, seems to be cracking under the years of pressure. When the cop who was behind sending Tara to prison starts coming around everyone seems to be on edge. As everyone’s secrets start threatening to unravel, they have to put their fears behind and face things head on.
This is the second book i have read by this author, and I have enjoyed them both. In this novel I really enjoyed the relationship between Tara with her nephew. I felt strongly for Tara; how she always tried to fix her families problems. Overall, loyalty to her family was a very high priority, and she was willing to do anything to protect them.
