Prose was well done, but I literally hated every character in this book. Extra hated the one who compared herself to an Auschwitz survivor. Premise was cool but not really used to fullest extent (though I realize it’s probably not the point).

Y’all, if you think your life is meaningless because of doom-scrolling & how you hate your job, here’s a tip: you can put your phone down — you can even leave the house without it, don’t worry, you won’t die. And you can just get another job. If you’re disappointed in contemporary life … well, you’re the boss of your life & you can decide to change it. I don’t know. I’m fairly pissed off about this book.

I’m confused and sad. What just happened. I was heavily invested. Iris and her world gripped me, I found myself taken by this book. I desperately hope for a happily ever after. I realise, now, the beauty of life… even though it’s not perfect, it’s all we have.
