While Martin Luther King's last book contains a good amount of history and reflection on the state of the civil rights movement in the late 1960's, a disturbing amount is still relevant in 2018, 50 years after it was published. While reading this, I could almost hear King's beautiful voice reading the words.

A thought provoking, challenging, timeless classic. Dr. King's last book, written in 1967, prophetically addressed issues then and today in 2017. His invitation to nonviolent principles, as well as repentance from societal and Christian complacency in the presence of racism, poverty, and militarism is powerful. The reality that decades have passed and we neither listened nor learned, is sobering. THIS IS A MUST READ for anyone concerned with ending injustice around the world AND at home.

Even though this book was published nearly 60 years ago, it is still alarmingly relevant in our current political landscape. Martin Luther King Jr. was (and through his legacy still is) a revolutionary leader with bold vision. His words on unity, systematic change, and justice are required reading for those who long to see progress and change toward equality in the United States.

Everyone should read this once in a lifetime. At the very least read the Birmingham Letters. But here you find it all and realize he was truly a socialist in theory and anti-capitalist, anti-militarism, anti-racist obviously.
A stirring read that is sadly still very relevant today. This isn’t your whitewashed froufrou MLK we see a lot in quotes today. It’s a critique of capitalism and white supremacy that also advocates strongly for nonviolence, not just because that’s the right thing to do, but because it’s the most effective way toward a just society. I recommend this!
