Sloane has been present in this series since the very start, and Xavier has been mentioned since book two. On top of that they also got teased as a couple quite a bit in book three, and I was just so hyped for this release. I can now say, with the most glee in the world, that I fucking loved this book. It did get me a little to get into but before I know it I was super invested in it, and just so in love with this book.
Sloane and Xavier are just incredible main characters. Their personal storylines are so great. I feel like they are a bit more emotional. Xavier's deals a lot with grief, dissapointing your parents, and finding your own path. I thought it was all really well executed. Sloane's deals with difficult family situations, as well as just a shitty ex kind of influencing the way you see relationships. I truly think her emotional arc throughout this book was absolutely incredible. I also just adored how they opened up to each other throughout the book, and ended up being each others biggest rocks.
Overall I also just loved how Sloane and Xavier's relationship develops throughout the book. Xavier is definitely down bad, and he's such a sweetiepie. I also just think their relationship was just so incredibly wholesome and cute, because there just is an emotional heaviness to get through as well. Despite that this book is also incredibly funny, as Xavier and Sloane just have top notch banter. There's also quite a few steamy scenes, so there truly is a little bit of everything in their relationship. I also like how their third act break-up and its resolution felt like it came straight out of a romcom. Considering Sloane's love/hate for romcoms have been a well discussed thing throughout the series, and also throughout this book I felt like it was just really appropiate for them.
So yeah, I thought this book was incredible. It definitely feels more like a warm hug, rather than a burning love. If that makes sense. Like, King of Pride is my favourite in this series and that book genuinely makes me squee and kick my fit. This book is second in the ranking of the series for me, but it didn't do any of that for me. However, it left me with such a full heart, and a massive smile on my face.

I actually really liked it! And Sloane and Xavier are so good for eachother the character development👌 but for me the change was too fast like one minute he was a huge party boy (kind of like a child I am sorry) and then he was business like. I like his childish side and their playful attitude but I still have some questions left unanswered... But I loved to see Xavier build his business and to see so many characters from the other books!!! Even got to see Alex♡♡♡

I love this one so much! I love the complex emotions and how they were handled. The character arcs were satisfying and the plot fine enough.

this one is my favorite in the series so far!
I really liked Sloane and Xavier's relationship! their dynamic and their chemistry was truly on point and it gave me some very soft vibes of the power we were accostumed to from the Twisted series. I think their build up was very well done and organic and I absolutely loved seeing them discover themselves and each other.
even the other little side plots were very sweet and cute and just augmented my enjoyment for the book! the part with the fish, the family issues on both parts, the mysterious green eyes… I don't know, I just loved the attention to detail in this one and it made me really excited for the next ones to come… also, I truly wish that one day I get to visit that famous library because my oh my… it sure has something! xD
anyway this was a great book, I was very pleasently surprised and I woulkd 100% recommend it.

A cute read but despite my live for Ms Huangs books I found myself struggling to get through this one.  I have no idea why. The characters and plot were interesting if not predictable but also loveable. I can only sa  I'm a huge mood reader and all her other books were 5 star reads for me. This one, slowed me down a bit.
