Holy crap, that was one wild ride. Horrifying yet completely riveting; a total page-turner. It was non-stop bananas from start to finish and would make a great movie. Note: This book is NOT for the squeamish and there was an instance of animal harm (which I HATED).
The first half of the book was a solid 4 stars, but then we get to the twist, which I had guessed after the first chapter, and because of that I felt a bit let down, but a decent read overall!
If you love a mystery and want to be kept on the edge of your seat, this book should be at the top of your summer reading list. Although I figured out the who pretty early, I think it was more because I love these type of stories and could see where it was going. I will not say more on that, because I do not want to spoil the book for others.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley for my honest review, and I have to thank them for such a great read. I already find rest stops a little creepy and after reading this book I will have a hard time stopping at one again. Imagine anticipating a quick stop to change your clothes and being assaulted in the bathroom by a strange man whose face you do not see only to come out and find your fiance missing. Thus begins a horrific scavenger hunt with Kristine racing to save her missing fiance.
I thought this book was action packed and yes a bit gory. For someone who enjoys a good horror story the gore does not bother me. What this book has in abundance is a super creepy and evil serial killer. Love the fast pace and the thrills. Throughout the book there are several mentions of something horrible that happened to Kristine in her childhood but the author does not elaborate until close to the end which I thought was different but works. I loved all of it and will look into the other books by this author.

This here book is getting all kinds of handjobs and reach-arounds from fellow readers but it sure as shit did nothing for me.
The 'twist' was obvious.
Characters - didn't care for 'em.
The ending was dross. Actually, the whole second half of the book was pretty poor.
I didn't hate it and I can see why many have liked it. I'm just disappointed Swerve didn't twist my nipples in the way this type of story should have.

I feel like I held my breath the entire book and only after reading that last sentence did I finally breathe again. I've only just finished and my heart is still pounding in my chest from the suspense. This story leaves you on the edge of your seat with every surprising twist and turn. It's a roller coaster ride that takes off at full speed and doesn't slow down.

This is a decent psychological thriller that kind of falls a bit flat in the second half of the book. With characters that aren't totally likable or relatable, a plot twist that can be seen coming from a mile away, and a last third that was dragging a bit, it wasn't the best thriller, but it was atmospheric at times.
