Adored this book hoenstly think its very underated and just as good as her other works. The spice isnt as in depth as her other work but the plot is absolutely amazing and the characters depth are epic

I honestly really enjoyed this one!! I have loved her more recent work, and her famous devils night series, so i was very intrigued to see how this compared. this was a super spicy and fun suspense romance!! i loved the characters’ banter, the “forbidden” romance, and the suspense!! and its age gap?! i loved it!! i’m such a sucker for a banter filled age gap and this delivered!! add in the suspense and i was SAT!! i also loved the backstory of Easton and how she was choosing to overcome her struggles to live life to the fullest. loved the representation and hope that her struggles brought!!! if you have any more suspense age gap romance recs please send them my way because im hooked ❤️

Flat characters, no sexual tension

Having read and not loved other more popular books by penelope douglas i was wary going into this book but i was very pleasantly surprised.
I loved how uncomplicated the plot was , it was easy smooth and the writing was good .It was focused on the romance but there was also a little side /sub plot/ details that i enjoyed.

I really really loved Easton's character and it made me enjoy the book even more . She is so smart and outspoken and strong and overall a great character.

Not so much Tyler though, not that he isn't a well written it's just that his Character wasn't for me , he didn't stick out for me and felt like i've read his character in alot of other books and i found myself annoyed with him for most of the book and did not like how he belittled and treated Easton in many scenes but overall he's okay

Now my absolute favorite character was Christian , I would usually avoid the single parent/ kids trope like a plague and it usually ruins the book for me no matter how good it is ,but this one was very well written and i feel like Christian's presence added essence and softness to the book and Tyler's character .

I usually also avoid books with other women drama and end up loathing the other women , but i was not bothered by Tessa nor hated her , i feel like she wasn't malicious nor wanted to do bad things she was just an ambitious women who needed Tyler for her career but other than that she didn't go out of her way to separate and break them up and just accepted it once Tyler had made his decision.

Overall i don't know why this books is one of Penelope douglas's least know / famous books it is enjoyable and would recommend for people who like :
-forbidden love
-age gap
-single parent

I didn't like the political elite aspect of this book, but I was into the teacher/single dad trope

I really hated Tyler’s character. I found him super condescending and I don’t care to see what his “redemption” arc will be. I guess that’s what I get for picking up a romance book written in 2015.
