3 1/2 Stars!

Summary: Easton is a high school teacher who falls for one of her student’s fathers. They had met previously and flirted a bit, but now that they have to spend time together because of the student, things get complicated.

Penelope’s first stand alone I think. I liked this book, didn’t love though. I thought a lot of the plot was undeveloped, like Easton’s past. We get snippets of it here and there but since the book is written in first person I thought she would draw on her past more or at least think about it once in a while.

Her brother being the burglar? First off, I didn’t see that coming. I thought it would be the driver or the other teacher. Secondly, her brother is quite literally all she has left of her family…why did he have to be the bad guy?!

I loved this book, the forbidden romance aspect is always a favorite. However, the male reader in this book needs some serious help. His voice was too young for the part, and his pronunciation of words like "buttoned" or "didn't" was awful and sounded uneducated, especially since the character was a senatorial candidate. The female reader knocked it out of the park, which was why I kept listening. The plot was good and the tension was tight.

The spice in this book was good but other than that I thought this book was a bit boring at times. I liked the book as a whole overall but felt like things were just tossed together in certain parts. I am normally a big Penelope Douglas fan.

The age gap made this story that much better and that the main character was a teacher and the guy who was the parent was chef's kiss.

This one was a bit slower to draw me in but I did enjoy it and will rec it to the end of time to those who like slow burn like this (I am learning there are also differences in slow burn. I like some and not others.)

The twist of whom was breaking into Easton’s apartment wasn’t who I expected. I would have liked a bit more of that plot line than what we got but it wasn’t the end of the world we didn’t.

Tyler falling first and fast is a trope I enjoy. Especially when he decided he couldn’t live without Easton, even if it meant walking away from something he always assumed he wanted.

Another Pen Douglas book down! I am enjoying these so much.

It was adorable. He put in so much effort for her which was so charming. Tyler was persistent and I loved him a little more for it.

Their lives together just made sense. Because of their interests and personalities they fit together like a lock and key.

Great story - wish more teachers would get onboard with the way she teaches. Not sure how I feel about the brothers involvement - weird twist
