Wow, wow, wow and some more wow. This was brilliantly written. It was so suspenseful, a really brought the story to life. I connected with the main character, I wanted to know what happened to her brother, how she was and then we get twists thrown at us, with her husband and everything becomes layer after layer of deceit and mystery. Truly, I was hooked from the first page and any thriller lovers would be as well. I highly recommend this book!

Thank you NetGalley and HarperCollins Publishing for the ARC of this novel. The premise for this story was very good and for most of the book, I was engaged; however, I wanted more of a domestic psychosocial thriller. It was a quick, easy read with a few twists and turns and I was invested in the main character, Lucy, I just wanted more.

Slow start, unlikable characters and mystery/thrilling elements are not appearing quickly enough.
Is very bland/boring

Lucy is a famous detective series writer while her husband Dan is her manager. They have a rocky marriage then Dan goes missing. The problem is thirty years ago Lucy's little brother disappeared and 9yo Lucy became a suspect.

This is a popcorn thriller. A quick read of a book I couldn't put down. I loved the writer aspect and Lucy's visualization of conversations with her lead hero makes her an unreliable narrator. My first book by the author and I'll certainly read more.

Honestly not a book that I particularly enjoyed. Almost every character was unlikeable and it made every person out to be selfish individuals just out for personal gain — even the old landlord she had loved tried blackmailing her. It is a very grim look on the world, which led me to not enjoy the read throughout the book. The ending, however, was the worst part. It was so rushed and honestly made so little sense. Then to leave such a big question in the book unanswered was also irritating. Not a book I would recommend.
