Now I can truthfully claim to have read a Nora Roberts book, and ... well, I have nothing else to add to that statement.

I liked this book more than the 1st in the series. I did enjoy the book and would enjoy rereading someday. The ending is more fast-paced compared to the beginning. It does leave you wanting more from the two mai characters. Kinda wish the problems they faced towards the middle and end were problems they had at the start.

I love the idea of Brenna's cap. I didn't realize what it was in Jewels of the Sun, but now I have a definite idea of it. One of those 1920 caps newspaper boys wore. Patterned gray or dark beige. Perhaps even navy blue.
I enjoyed seeing the typical gender roles reversed. Shawn cooking, Brenna fixing things up… clobbering him metaphorically whenever he wasn't moving along to her satisfaction… poking and prodding and pushing. She's a bit like me in that respect… the poking and the prodding.
I also loved seeing Shawn and Corrick's interaction. The fact that he wasn't at all intimidated by a guy who's quite formidable gives him points. And the fact that he doesn't mind acting like a dimwit every once in a while gives him more points.
And I loved the way I was drawn in… the feel of Ardmore and the seaside and the plans and the work. I want to be able to get that kind of feeling in my books.

Originally published in 2000. The legend continues with some magical or supernatural elements. We get emotional ups and downs and a bit more humor than in ‘Jewels of the Sun’. We get to experience Shawn and Brenna move from childhood love, to adult love.

So, three stars, for a book that I was actually enjoying up to the very abrupt ending that was monumentally uncool.
And after that happened, there was a really fast resolution and then it just... ended. I know it's book 2/3 but I don't particularly have any desire to read about Darcy, and I was actually really shocked how Shawn and Brenna got basically no ending whatsoever. Plus, it just lacked a sort of cohesiveness. No thanks.
I enjoyed it up to that part. I was really pullilng for them.

I don't care if I'm "supposed" to feel like Shawn should be grateful to Brenna for selling his music without even telling him or asking if it's okay first, I feel like that is absolutely not okay. That was personal, and private, and maybe he's okay with sharing his music with her but that's way different than giving it to a label. And if she can't understand the difference then maybe she's not ready for a grown up relationship. And after that happened, there was a really fast resolution and then it just... ended. He's known her since she was little, but he hasn't known that she had a thing for him, so he instinctively knows that he needs to let her lead herself around to it and then he throws it all out anyway?I enjoyed it up to that part. I was really pullilng for them.
