I was very into this for the first 20-30% of the book, but I quickly became very confused and I don't really understand the ending??

yay for Paul being alive although did he properly die?? And what is with the twins?? Why is Leto going full evil on everyone? Dictator for centuries?? I am confused

I hope they make a movie for this one, they do a pretty good adapting them (these new ones) so I think I might be less confused with a movie

By far my least favorite of the original Dune trilogy, mainly due to it being the least narratively coherent, but also partially due to just being creeped out by the twins (I am not a fan of child characters that think and act like adults, just generally speaking). Would not reread.

As I am reading through this series I am still in love with the universe Frank Herbert has made. That being said this is the first in the entries that started to feel like a little bit of... slog? Still a fantastic book. On to God-Emperor.

So so good. Loved it. It's the start of something new. Leto and Ghanima are so intelligent and a fantastic reflection of both of their parents. The revival of some characters was absolutely shocking and I loved the twist on family in this book. Gut-wrenching ending though. Shed a lot of tears throughout. Very emotional story.

Thus far, this has been my favorite in the original Dune series. It’s a close call between this one and the original book, but the original book’s first half lags a bit and this one kept me interested the entire time. I do enjoy the development of characters over the entire series and the growing Mythos of the house Atreides.
