I really liked this book. I loved the way they would talk to each other, the banter was sexy and the spice was really good I would give it four stars. It was my first time reading a dark academia romance and I think that I have to read more books with these troups from now on. The way that Saint wanted to take care if her and treat her right was so sweet, it was really cute in his POV and I love Tessa’s character and how much she loves her family. I liked that they were similar and that they could get to bond over it, even if it involved grief. The end of the book got me because what am I supposed to think now… I love Saint but at the same time did he do it and or did Tessa’s sister not remember correctly I don’t know. I’m so confused at the moment and I have to know what happens in the second book. I am also angry because whyyyyyyy they were going to have such a good relationship and then Roxy Slaone just had to throw that in there. Anyway, I am done. Loved the book.
The storyline was quick from the get-go. That alone had me itching to read more, which is probably why I binged all three books in 2 days!
The spice was next level too! There was public play which I've never read before. I'm a sucker for a good romance, and their relationship had me from their first "date" and second and third/fourth!
Tropes:
Dark academia
Professor x grad student
Romantic suspense
He falls first
Public play
Reformed playboy

This book felt like an amateur blend of The Sinner TV show with a dash of Harry Potter. The plot had elements that felt recycled from other works, but the writing had just enough spice to keep you reading. I wouldn’t go as far as saying I loved Saint, but I didn’t mind him as the love interest. I prefer my love interests to ONLY bang the MC, but Saint was a little more adventurous than that. If that’s a big turn off for you, I wouldn’t recommend this series. That said, I cannot understand WHY exactly he’s so enamored with Tessa. There’s nothing overtly unique or special about her. She has no real personality besides wanting to find the truth about her sisters death. She seems like a nice enough girl but this man whore has become husband material in the span of two weeks… I just need to believe their love was that real, and I didn’t. It came across like infatuation.
Final thoughts: Nothing groundbreaking but the ending was enough of a cliff hanger to keep me hooked. On to book 2!
PS- her friends SUCK! Holy sh*t, why was she so nice to them? It was clear they were envious of her situation. #hatersgonnahate

I’m admitting this one might be just me. I couldn’t get into it enough to want to finish it. A third through and I really don’t care about any of them. That’s not good. After three days trying to get through a book I should have been able to finish by then, I’m not going to keep forcing it.
