I thought this book was so great. I didn't see the killer until the very end. I thought the information about the family wasn't needed in this book. I can't wait to read another one.
Very bloody but good characters and interesting setting.
This was awkwardly written (I'm blaming some of that on the translation) and just not a very good mystery. Much of the characters' actions seemed to stem from the author deciding "ok, now this should happen" rather than seeming to occur naturally out of who they were and what similar people might do in a similar situation. The physical descriptions were lousy: why bother having a murder victim who is heavily into body modification, implants, and scarring, if you're barely going to describe what kind of body modifications he's had, other than occasionally references to how "disgusting" they are? Most of the gestures toward character development left me thinking, "Why? What does it add to the story to have that occur? What does it add to the story to give this character these predilictions?" It's all very sketchy. There's also a real lack of atmosphere; things that are supposed to be creepy just aren't.
I think there was a core of an interesting story here, but unfortunately, Sigurdardottir didn't really convey it.

Confesso que foi uma grande desilusão este livro. Custou tanto para o encontrar e tinha expectativas tão altas..
O tema acaba por não me interessar, a investigação tornou-se chata.
o epílogo é bastante interessante, foi uma bela maneira de justificar a mãe...
não dei o tempo por mal empregue, mas não estou ansiosa por ler mais de Yrsa, pelo menos por enquanto..

Wer einen sensiblen Magen hat, der sollte das Buch besser nicht lesen. Der Mord selbst ist zwar detailliert beschrieben, aber nicht in jeder kleinsten Kleinigkeit. Die ganzen dunklen Hexenrituale hingegen ... naja, es ist sehr ausführlich geworden genauso wie die mittelalterlichen Foltermethoden.
Leider konnte ich mich weder für Thora (die deutsche Vorleserin spricht es eher wie Dora aus) oder Matthias erwärmen. Erstere ist oftmals kindisch und unhöflich, Letzterer ist einfach nur creepy beim flirten und führt sich komisch auf (falls das deutsche Direktheit darstellen soll: es ist vollkommen unrealistisch).
