Honestly the character descriptions sucked away my interest in the story.  After the fifth or sixth time and style choice was described as a character flaw I just couldn’t take it anymore and had to quit the whole book. The main character and the murder mystery aren’t engaging enough to overcome the heavy handedness.

A university student is found murdered in a closet, but was it a ritual killing? An Icelandic attorney, who is struggling with the burden of single parenthood after her divorce, works with a German private investigator to bring the family some closure. Even though the police have made an arrest, clues point to a far more sinister motive. A good mystery, interesting characters, and the unique landscape make this entertaining read.

I did not fall for Thóra Gudmundsdóttir, the lawyer-come-private eye main character, at all. She's so stuck up in a couple of ways that do not suit the rest of her character, which is a hard working single mom of two. She and I just didn't get along too well.
But the plot of this book is quite interesting. I had a hunch as to who'd done it from the first pages, but my suspicions weren't confirmed until the very end - that's always good.
I'll probably read Yrsa Sigurdadottirs next novel as well, as the Icelandic scenery worked well with a crime novel.

I think I may have found another author. Definitely will get the next book in the series.

I don't know if it was the translation but I just found this book boring.

Wow!

I cry for the trees that gave their lives for this horrible book.
