This was such a good read, the spookiness and the mystery kept me engaged until the last page. The added element that the main character could not communicate with spoken word propelled the story forward: it added to the suspense, kept the mystery going, and allowed the worlds to develop in ways that it wouldn’t otherwise.

I had so many high hopes for this, but alas, the disappointment was too great eventually.

The themes were repetitive and the characters weren't very lovable and the plot felt like a spiral of things being chewed on far too much and it lost interest far too soon.

This should have been novella I liked atmosphere and it was quick read but V.E. Schwab all girl characters have same I'm “not like other girl vibes” it's so annoying.
