This book is like soft cuddly blanket to wrap yourself in. Featuring  a lovable cast of characters you’re bound to fall in love with. Seriously this story is something straight out of a Studio Ghibli movie! A good, wholesome read if you just want to relax and vibe for a bit. We’ve got the found family trope, old gays falling in love, the sweetest group of kids, badass loving parents, and so much magic and wonder. What’s not to love?

This book....wow. I honestly didn’t know what to expect going in and it blew me away with how soft and warm this was. It’s basically a hug in book form. It gave me Studio Ghibli vibes mixed with Tim Burton and if that isn’t a mood I don’t know what is.

Okay, so. This book had me sobbing. It was all smooth sailing until the last 60 pages. And then...then Linus was putting the children to bed. It was the softest and saddest goodbye that I’ve ever read and I just couldn’t hold the tears back anymore. Even just thinking about that scene as I write this review is getting to me. There were a couple of other scenes after that that got to me and I was just an emotional wreck as I finished reading.

I loved the kids! They were all so sweet and kind and I’m so glad they found this little ragtag family. I also loved that they felt like actual children, because let’s be real, a lot authors can’t write a fully fleshed out child character under the age of 10 if their life depended on it. These kids behaved like kids. They were silly and brash and adorable and dramatic and just...they felt like real kids. I wanted to give them all the hugs and all the love that I possibly could. They will always have a special place in my heart.

You know when you’re reading a book that you know will live in your heart for the rest of your life? This is one of those books for me. I loved this book with my whole heart. It’s getting a solid five stars. And now I’m gonna go cry for a minute. 😭

This is an adorable story of found family and two people who find love. It is absolutely amazing and all of the characters are lovable. Each of the characters have fleshed-out personalities and I genuinely loved. This book alone got me out of a massive reading slump.
