pretty standard dog POV book. Not bad but not anything special either. Would recommend to kids who love dogs & reading and are hungry for more of both.
Moderate: Animal death, Medical content, Abandonment, Animal cruelty, Confinement, Excrement, Injury/Injury detail, and Vomit
Minor: Blood and Car accident
It's aimed at kids and all of the themes & other content in the warnings are handled in an age-appropriate manner. The main character, the dog Ginger, was born in a puppy mill, adopted by a negligent family, and spent some time as a stray. As such, animal abuse is one of the major themes of the book. No human directly causes injury to any animal or vise versa within this book. A child nearly drowns in the book but is fine afterwards
