I will never recover from this.

ok so it isn't perfect by a long shot and the film is 100 times better than the book but I found that reading the book and annotating it was a way to compile my thoughts abt the story and stuff.

no the writing isn't amaizing but ya know what the story is good enough that I was distracted and I honestly loved it

Neil Perry my love I am so sorry.

"What ever"
I had quite high expectations for this book that weren't met (sadly). The first time I read it was in French class when I was 16 and I remember loving it back then. The English reread wasn't that great though.... The literary quality is just nowhere to be found. it seems like N.H.K. didn't take Mr. Keatings lesson to heart when writing. The vocabulary is very poor. Add to that, that there is no inner monologue whatsoever and very very little characterisation of the different boys from the school. We only get a surface level depiction, she could have dug deeper.
Perry's death seems almost like a poor taste joke with NO inside on how he actually felt prior to killing himself. It almost described as him throwing a tantrum and then killing himself only to further enrage his father....
Poor representation of mental health problems in young people. The movie (which came first) is way better in my memory.
