This explained SO much. It had the added perk of being hilarious to listen to!

Any fan (if you can cal yourself that) of the room HAS to read this book! I've been obsessed with the movie since I watched a last year and when I found out a book had been written I knew it would be good. Greg Sestero (who plays the cheating best-friend "Mark") and Tom Bissell (though I'm not really sure what his role was exactly) have done a very good job here, it quite easily could have been a tell-all funny story of the production of The Room but this book is SO much more than that. The book is told in two parts, running in alternating chapters. The first part is a mini autobiography of Greg and his efforts to make it in Hollywood, where he meets Tommy Wiseau. This part of the book gives you a comprehensive view Tommy as a person, it is quite strange and at times very sad, but also at times very funny. The second part of the book tells more of the production of the movie itself, this section is straight comedy gold! Somewhere towards the end of the two parts meet, where Greg and Tommy begin production of the movie. The Disaster Artist is told with heart and honesty, its bizarre and very funny.

I would recommend this book to anyone, but you have to see the movie first. 10/10

I really have a love/hate reaction to Tommy. He's a guy who (unconfirmed) came to America and made himself a successful businessman, and used his resources to fulfill his and his best friend's dream of being movie stars. At the same time, his treatment of his 'friends' and crew was disheartening.
I still loved reading it. I liked how each chapter switched back and forth from Tommy and Greg's friendship starting and building to production on The Room. Found myself laughing out loud many times...

one of the funniest books ever. even funnier with the audiobook. omfg.

This was pretty good, if you're a fan of the room. There are things he spends too much time on though, like his acting career, and other things I wish were explored more fully like tommy's reaction to the public feedback he received. Greg narrates tommy's voice perfectly on the audio version.

If you are interested in reading this book you should definitely listen to the audio because Greg Sestero’s Tommy impression is amazing.

it is so rare that i audibly laugh while reading a book but i was cackling the whole way through, my god

Pitch-perfect. It's a coming-of-age story, a behind-the-scenes Hollywood cautionary tale, and a fascinating character study of cinema's unlikeliest stars. Much like Ken Jenning's BRAINIAC, Sestero & Bissell's THE DISASTER ARTIST is about a lot of things. It's personal, but it's not self-aggrandizing. It's honest, clear, and thoughtful. Hilarious and touching. Smart and silly. I had never seen THE ROOM before reading this book, and I loved it all the same. Would recommend for anyone who likes bad movies or even anyone who is interested in how-it-happened tell alls like THE LATE SHIFT.

the book was better than the movie
funny informative lighthearted medium-paced
