I loved this book. The story follows Freya, Nathaniel and Harun over the course of one day when their lives all change. Freya has lost her voice which means she cannot sing. Harun is scared to tell his family who he really loves and is looking to run away instead of facing them. Nathaniel is looking for a sense of belonging after so long of being just himself and his father. He is now alone and trying to see the places his father said he would take him. This is a story about love and friendship and courage to try new things.

Read in the spring of 2019 but, apparently, never reviewed. Meh. It was OK. Characters were likable enough. Not much depth. Held my interest but I didn't care deeply for the characters or worry about them. The best I can say is, it was fine.

This book is a very entertaining and interesting contemporary read. I have read some of Gayle Forman’s work before, and while it is not my favorite book she has written, it is at the top of my list. I loved the diverse cast of characters that we get to read about, and the switching viewpoints give a good insight into various cultures and lifestyles. My personal favorite perspective to read from was Freya, as I liked her story the best, and she ties the group together right from the start. I did find it a little repetitive at first since it retells what is happening at the same time through each perspective, but once I got used to the backtracking I didn’t mind it is much. Overall, this was a very interesting read that I would recommend to fans of Gayle Forman’s other works, because it did not disappoint.

So-so. YA. Kind of disappointing because I like her other books so much better.

Three characters who are pondering the life choices that have led them to the crux they currently find themselves in converge in Central Park. Circumstances lead them to spend a few hours together and they connect. This is the story of those hours.

Three people meet by chance in Central Park and all happen to be at breaking points in their lives. They form a bond and get pulled into each other's dramas as they play out over a single day.
Gayle Forman is so good at pulling you into her character's lives and making you care about them immediately. She is an effortless writer.
I liked this a lot! It's an easy, feel good recommendation with adult crossover appeal.
