Such a fun idea for a story, but ultimately a mediocre novel.

It was hard to tell apart the main characters because their personalities and on page appearances were just that similar. Although they each led different lives, their POVS felt nearly interchangeable.

The plot itself had a lot of potential: beginning a story with a woman about to become president and discovering it could be 4 different girls is definitely very interesting. However, the story did feel bland and most likely won’t leave a lasting impact on the reader. (Besides perhaps leaving a lasting dread of college admissions.)

Wow! Not what I expected but I loved it!

It was very coming of age and Wyatt was of course my favorite character. Go figure!

This book was so good! If you love The Bold Type like I do, then you’ll love this book! I love the story of this friend group and how much they all mean to one another. And I love the mystery of the book. Just when you think you know who becomes President near the end, Sarah throws a delightful twist in.

If you love stories about female friendship, YA/coming of age stories, you’ll love this!

Really sweet lighthearted book good for things start to feel a little too heavy. It was cute and you root for all the 4 different characters at the same time! rating: :)

The deal: From the creator of The Bold Type (which you should be watching if you too are craving soapy escapism), a YA novel about four high school BFFs, one of whom will eventually be the president of the US.

Is it worth it?: Yes, this is exactly what I needed after that ill-timed dystopian situation last week. Under normal circumstances, I would probably think this is a little bit dumb, and more than a little bit too stuffed with Hermione Granger references. But these are not normal circumstances.

Pairs well with: teenage sincerity, blind idealism, texting your pals

Like a YA version of BEYOND THE POINT (a favourite of last year) & some SISTERHOOD OF THE TRAVELLING PANTS vibes. Legit didn’t know how it would end until the very last page & turns out I LOVE THAT

This was literally just ok, I have no strong or negative feelings about it.

My one problem w this is that yea the characters each have individually interesting stories but I also am constantly getting them mixed up, it may have been done better if they had each chapter from a different girls first person POV compared to all 3rd person

also the last name Diffenderfer as more traditional compared to the last name of the girl who becomes president, bffr there's no way

Loved this story about friendship and the uncertainties we all have/had before finding ourselves and our purposes in life. It looks and feels different for everyone, which I think is shown very well here. I got very invested in these four friends’ lives.

Great story about friendship and coming of age with a twist of politics! I was soooo close to flipping ahead to see who became president, but was so glad I waited when I found out at the end.

a powerful and timely read. girl power at its finest. there is nothing that has felt more personal and relatable to me in relation to feminism and politics than this book depicting small town dreams from young women in Ohio. love it to infinity and beyond. this is truly a book that will stay with me for the rest of my life and i will strongly recommend everyone to read it. p.s. the twists were hella cute and i was racing through this book.
