I have to admit that I was not fully prepared to jump into this amazing story. True, I was aware of the diversity and that the female lead had a chronic illness/chronic pain, but this book was so much more and completely refreshing.

First, I love that the "heal me handsome" trope was avoided, but there was still room for both parties to support, care for, and promote growth and healing for each other. It was as it should be: a relationship is a place of safety, not a cure all. It was beautifully done.

Second, I loved how naturally the story progressed, and especially how it showcased that two people can hurt each other without trying, that sometimes one person's coping mechanism can be another's trigger, and that it is possible to work around those things while you grow to understand your partner.

Above all, this story was about emotional healing after trauma. Fear is a very real, debilitating thing; choosing to live again despite pain and trauma takes bravery and courage. You are the only one who can choose life over fear; no one else can do it for you.

This was an amazing, cathartic read, and I'm excited to get into Dani and Eve's books.

The writing style was fun and sarcastic which I LOVE but I really didn’t  like Chloe and it took away from the experience.  😕🥴

Also, the bucket list thing felt cliche, unnecessary, and underdeveloped  to me, which is odd considering it’s the whole plot..
