The audiobook was great! It’s narrated by Adjoa Andoh, who plays Lady Danbury in Bridgerton.

I finally got around to reading this book.
All in all, this was a very enjoyable read. Red and Chloe’s dynamic was so cute and they ended up being a couple you were able to root for.
As someone with a disability, Chloe and her struggles with fibromyalgia were very relatable. When my blood sugar goes low, I tend to be easily irritated and lose patience quickly, which also happens to Chloe.
Their banter was ADORABLE! I love seeing these sorts of exchanges in romances.
A few things that the author chose to wrote bothered me. I think it’s a personal thing but I hate when male love interest start to masturbate graphically on page. There’s a scene in here where I was like « whoa okay, I don’t like this. Please stop ». He also kept saying that Chloe had a « Rococo face ». I’m not kidding, he said it at least 3 times. WHAT THE HELL DOES THAT MEAN?!? What is a rococo face. And it just sounds so weird.

I loved the role reversal of the grumpy (Chloe) / sunshine (Red) trope. Chloe's brusque attitude was so relatable--let's be real, when someone is in pain, their fuse is short and their attitude tends to come across as terse. Red is too good for this world, but he's got his own demons to tackle and he's working on it. Helping Chloe work through her list helps him recognize what he's been holding himself back from too.
He had some of the best lines in the book, in my opinion, and not just his worship of Chloe's thick thighs! When he cooked her stir-fry after realizing she hadn't eaten most of the day, "I'm doing it for you because that's how people should behave. They should fill in each other's gaps. Don't think about it too hard." Like YES! That's what relationships are all about! Give and take, being each other's support when they need it.
And when he knew he fucked up, "I know the difference between torture and growing pains." Just UGH, how perfect could he be?? Telling Chloe he recognized they're both imperfect people, but that together they can be perfectly imperfect and grow into better people together. Be still my heart! I can't wait to get glimpses of their happiness as we get the scoop on Dani and Eve in the sequels!

This was the story I never knew I needed. As most people who know me know I rarely read romance and, even less so do I read books that feature conditions I have because they never usually come close to my experiences. This however was different. Chronic illnesses are different for everyone but there are things everyone with chronic illnesses experience such as losing friends and/or failing relationships, medical gaslighting/trauma and frustration at the fact our bodies don't behave as they once did. These commonalities were highlighted really well in this and in a way that doesn't turn them into a pity party.
Another thing that was dealt with really well was past trauma and how that can have a lasting impact on us and our approach to future relationships. I normally hate the miscommunication trope but in this case it demonstrates how we can be triggered even when everything is going well due to our past experiences and how the traumatised part of our brain can shut down even while the rationale part is screaming at us not to.
I also appreciated that Chloe and Red had a sexual relationship in the book. Society too often presume that disabled people are not interested in or incapable of having sex but, for the majority of us this is false. Some of the things I've been told or experienced with people on this topic because I am disabled are so traumatic I couldn't even begin to write them down for the world to read. This book blew that misconception out of the water though.
I'm so grateful that I decided to take a chance on this book and I can't wait to continue on with the series.

I wanted to love this book and I did love a huge part of it but I just didn't completely fall in love with it. It might just not be the right time for me though. I would definitely reread it at some point in the future. But I would probably read it and not listen to the audiobook like I did this time. I think that actually took away a bit from my reading experience. I'm a big audiobook fan but I didn't like the voice and it just felt strange.
I am really excited to read about the other Brown sisters though. Even though they are a quite big part of Chloes life, they are not really important for the story so I'm excited to learn more about them.
All in all this was a quick and fun read and has so many things I loved. If you like representation and people being absolutely in love with each other - this one is for you.
