Rereading for obvious reasons. If you're excited by the movie, this is the run you'll want to read. All you really need to know is in the book. It's a fun inventive read that feels like a 2000ad comic in the Marvel universe.

Kind of tossed into the middle of everything, as it follows one of Marvel's big events from 2007/2008, but once you get into the characters, it flows nicely. The artwork improves and the characters get a little more consistent.

This was actually pretty good. Part of the reason I picked it up is because Dan Abnett was the writer, whom I know from some of his work in the Warhammer 40K novels. On the one hand, this story is part of a larger context (the whole Annihilation event), so I am sure it helps if you have read some of that. However, the story is good enough to stand on its own so you can enjoy it without needing a lot of background, which is good. The heroes featured are not exactly major heroes in the Marvel pantheon (well, not major to casual readers like me). On the other hand, that may be a good thing because reading this can feel like a new tale with a new cast. The tale was pretty entertaining, the tale of a disparate band of reluctant heroes coming together to serve as vanguard/first responder force. And hey, they even have a talking, wisecracking raccoon in the team who is a demolitions expert. What more could you ask for? The art was very good. And I will be looking for the next volume.

The movie does an EXCELLENT job of adapting these comics. So much fun.

This was...fun? And just proves what I've kinda suspected for a while: that Star-Lord is a bit of a poop head.

Anyway, I started playing the new (2021) Guardians of the Galaxy game and have been enjoying it quite a lot. Especially Gamora and Drax and their banter. So I wanted to read the comics.

So far not disappointed and enjoying the wackiness of it all. Just what I've needed.

Oof. What a cliffhanger! This is one of those issues that is simultaneously interesting and gut-wrenching all in one. Rocket's plot arc has been quite depressing - though an interesting and arguably needed twist on the character's tale. That doesn't make seeing him in this state any easier, of course. The way this issue ends only makes that whole feeling worse, though it is a clever use of all that tension.
