A penguin shows up on the boy's doorstep who looks awfully sad. The boy tries to figure out how to get him back home, but in the end, they realize home is together.

A delightful tale of friendship which, unlike other children's books, doesn't preach to the readers.

My best friend Anni gave this book to me for my 19th birthday. She sent it to me from England because she couldn't be home. The drawings are lovely, cute and heart-warming, and so is the story. It makes you want to cuddle someone strongly.

With Jeffers' cute and cartoonish style, this book offers a sweet tale about becoming friends.  As the boy attempts to help the penguin find his way back to the North Pole, he begins to have second thoughts.  He might miss the penguin.  And after he leaves the penguin alone, well, he becomes rather lonely himself.  Perhaps the penguin wasn't lost, but just wanted a friend!  And thus a beautiful friendship is born.

This is, overall, a very sweet story and it's absolutely perfect for a classroom!
