Hot athlete Cooper gets best friend Violet to pretend to be his girlfriend. It’s an obvious trophe but it’s a good story and captivated me. I will read the others in the series.
I enjoyed this novel. It was a quick read, but nothing stands out about it for me. That's why I rated it 3 stars.
Most Valuable Playboy was another stunner from New York Times Bestselling Author Lauren Blakely! By the end of the first sentence on the first page I found myself already falling for the charms of one Cooper Armstrong!!
Cooper’s been warming the bench for three years while with the Renegades. When the team’s starting quarterback finally retires, it’s Cooper’s time to shine. After a slow start, that’s exactly what he does. There’s only one little fly in the ointment - the owner’s sister, Maxine, and her determination to have him. The night of the Most Valuable Playboy auction, not wanting to rock the boat with the owner, especially during the negotiation for his new (hopefully) contract, Cooper’s desperate to have someone outbid Maxine and save him from her predatory clutches. In swoops Violet to the rescue, which sparks their fake relationship, which wasn’t really all that fake, and their journey to love.
Funnily enough, I loved everyone in this story. It’s so rare for this to happen that I kept looking for someone to hate. Anyone really. Never happened. Even Maxine with her almost pathetic attempts at seduction had endeared herself to me. I can’t even pinpoint what exactly I loved most about this book. This author has an amazing technique when it comes to writing from the male perspective and this story was no different. Cooper was an accomplished athlete who was dedicated to his career, focused on his plan, and had a kind and generous heart, which showed throughout this story at every turn. And although we don’t get Violet’s perspective, it was easy to see that she was a beautiful woman, inside and out, and more than worthy of the love that Cooper had in store for her.
I swear, Cooper had me chuckling so much. Whether from his internal monologue:
"It warms the cockles of my heart to see so many here to help us support the charity. Yeah, I don’t know what cockles are either, but mine are toasty, and our fans are amazing."
Or his interactions with his teammates, his best friend, Trent, or his banter with Violet. There was no bad side to be found in all that made Cooper who he was and therefore I could find no reason to take away any stars in this review. He deserves all the stars. This world needs more men like this character and like the other men featured in this story. I’m going to try to patiently wait for Jones’ book, Most Likely To Score, because I’m excited to see how this star receiver and Jillian achieve their happily ever after. I hope Harlan’s after that!!

Another great read by Ms Blakely.
Only one POV in this one, and it is read by the always fabulous Zachary Webber.
I thought I would have like to have heard the POV from the other MC Violet, but actually it really works well not having it.
Also glad that Cooper wasn't a douche.
I love friends to lovers stories, and this one hits all of the right buttons.

MOST VALUABLE PLAYBOY is a standalone sports romance by Lauren Blakely. I was super excited for this book for two reasons. One, it is written by Lauren Blakely, and I love her romances and two it is written in the guy’s POV! I am such a huge fan of romances written in the guy's point of view. I just love to get inside their heads and live for awhile, and I know I am not the only person who feels that way. You will all be happy to know that I absolutely LOVED Most Valuable Playboy. It was everything I was looking for in a sports romance and more. It might even be my very favorite Lauren Blakely book to date!
Most Valuable Playboy is the story of Cooper and Violet. There are so many of my favorite Tropes in this story, I don't even know where to start. We have a fake relationship, we have guy's point of view, we have best friend's sister. So many yeses!!! So many! Honestly, I think anyone who is a fan of sports romances will fall in love with this book. I think it is perfect for so many different kinds of readers.
Cooper is awesome. He is cocky, but also sweet (and a bit sour at times). And Violet is great. Since Violet and Cooper have known each other for most of their lives, it was so easy to see that their connection was pretty genuine and deep from the start. Even when it wasn't romantic, and that is my favorite way to start a connection. I loved seeing these two together. And then when you throw in Lauren Blakely's huge talent for writing sass, humor and romance, you have a winning combination. Lauren Blakely is officially on my auto buy authors list. I have loved everything she has written! And this is a fantastic book. I loved Most Valuable Playboy.

MOST VALUABLE PLAYBOY was fun from beginning to end. A slower burn heat was the theme in this sports-orientated friends to lovers story. What started as a pretend girlfriend situation developed into the sweetest journey to something deeper. Of course, this is not a new trope, it's something I've read similar types of books before, but I can honestly say I was thrilled as the hours ticked by on this audio.
The title made me think I'd be encountering a jerk, but Cooper was far from this. He was a guy who was focused on becoming an indispensable quarterback to his team. Cooper turned to Violet to get out of a tight corner but their close quarters revealed Vi in a new light. The chemistry builds more gradually than some of Lauren Blakely's quick, hot reads and I loved that aspect of bubbling feelings and gradual touches. The friendship between these two shone beautifully and Violet was very likeable.
The narration, single male POV, hit every button for me. Zachery Webber did a fantastic job on bringing Cooper and the story to life. Although it was single POV, he naturally worked the dialogue and Vi's dialogue into the story seamlessly. Highly recommended for a quick, hot read with nice depth.
A copy of this audiobook was provided by the author in return for a honest review.

Cute fake relationship romance.
I love Lauren Blakely's books, they're sweet and spicy and so much fun. This flew by and was an easy read with a great narrator. I also like when Blakely's books have the male main character narrating, it's cute seeing the guy's feelings and how he realizes he loves the woman. Cooper is a good leading guy, he's sweet and not a womanizer. Violet is awesome because she already knows Cooper and isn't enamored with his star status. She also doesn't let anyone push her around and I wish she could do my hair in real life!
The plot was pretty predictable, but I enjoyed listening and am excited to read the next book in the series!

This was so heterosexual I felt like it impregnated me during a bathroom fuck at a Beiber concert.
I don't often read first POV from the hero's perspective. This was an interesting read. It was very, very sweet. I really liked how Cooper was very conscious of Violet's boundaries and feelings about them as a couple. I did really like the snippets of Violet's POV that we got, too. Ooh! I think my favorite thing from this POV is that we were more into the football game than is normal, even in a third person vantage. If you're looking for a sweet read with lots of sexual tension, then pick this one up.
