I loved the dynamic between these two and liked that they were childhood friends first.
But also, Violet is his best friend's little sister which puts a bit of a wrench into the situation.
What I love about Lauren’s writing is that she doesn’t give us the norm, meaning you would expect drama around her being the sister to his best friend but nope we don’t get that at all. I love this about Lauren’s writing.
Cooper himself is the one with his inner voice reminding him who she is and why they can’t happen. But attraction and lust throughout the years had its toehold and isn’t going anywhere any time soon.
I very much enjoyed that they had their secret signals it made their story unique.
In a lot of sports romance books, I have been listening to lately the author tends to forget about the sport or the teammates and I really liked that we get a glimpse into his team, his coach and even the gameplay itself.
Lauren always surprises me in all the best ways. Very low drama it was a fantastic sports romance with game scenes!!
Jason Clark and Andi Arndt did a lovely job with these two unique characters and I for one want more from both narrators.
Ok that was straight up sports romance. Quarterback, hairdresser, fake relationship, best friend's sister. Good humor, mediocre story. Characters were thin, but author did an excellent job writing a feminist book without beating anyone over the head with it. High five, Lauren Blakely.

This book follows Cooper as he fake-dates his childhood friend, Violet. The whole story is told from Cooper's point of view, which was a nice change of pace and one of the things I genuinely enjoyed. It’s not every day you get only the guy’s perspective in a romance.
The writing is super simple and easy to get through. It’s the kind of book you can breeze through in a day or two, which makes it a good palate cleanser between heavier reads. But that same simplicity also makes it feel a bit hollow and surface-level. The beginning, in particular, was tough to get through because it didn’t really pull me in.
Honestly, not much happens plot-wise. There’s no real conflict or tension, so the story felt a bit boring at times. Without that sense of yearning or buildup, there’s not much satisfaction when Cooper and Violet finally get together. It all felt pretty flat because of that.
That being said, the book does have its funny moments. It’s light and amusing enough to keep you turning the pages. I think I would’ve enjoyed it more if I’d gone in expecting just a fast, easy read.
Overall, this book is great if you’re in the mood for something quick and fun. If you like romances told from the guy’s POV and don’t mind a more low-key, conflict-free story, it’s worth a shot.

I recently read another sports romance where the MMC was being auctioned and his BFF's sister wins the auction to save them. The other one was also a fake dating and I was worried it would a repeat of what I just read.
Though the stories were similar, there was enough differences so that I was able to enjoy this one. I enjoyed Cooper and Violet together. They were both much fun together and the banter was great. I liked that they lifted each other up and there really wasn't any tension and no 3rd act breakup.
I appreciated Cooper's relationship with his mom and his dedication to the sport. I love his approach to dating his best friend's sister as well. The supporting characters added a lot of fun to the story as well.
Thank you @sourcebookscasa for a copy of this book.

Spice: open door
While the story wasn't overly unique, the book being told from just the MMCs' pov was (for me anyhow.) I liked how these two had been friends since childhood yet never fully embraced their attraction to one another. The characters were likable and had me invested in how things would play out. It's a quick read and definitely super cute.
What to expect:
Fake-dating
Childhood friends to lovers
Best friends sister
Quarterback/salon owner

are we kidding. i devoured this in one day. i could not put it down. i wish he would’ve stopped talking about how many other women he ran through before her, but i still loved it so much. definitely will be reading more by this author.

Oh Lauren Blakely! How I love your male characters! Despite them being fictional you still make us wish they were real! Cooper is funny and adorable and Violet is simply amazing! The childhood friends to lovers trope is always one I like, especially if it's accompanied with humor, sass and steamy scenes!
And that goes for all the books of Lauren Blakely! I love her writing and her positivity. :)
