My favorite book in the whole series. c:
I loved all the characters.
I could really tell if it was Carter or Sadie was telling the story, because of how it was written.
These books need to be talked about more. okay? okay.

I sometimes felt like the teenager dialogue came off as an adult writing teenager dialogue. It's not a complaint I often have with Riordan's book. The story was very well done. Not sure about the promise to smash this book with the Percy Jackson books... think my head will spin reading about Greek, Roman and Egyptian gods all together!
Good use of bringing elements from the previous books into the story. I'm glad this series, like the "Lost Heros" and the "Percy Jackson" series, didn't end with everything necessarily tied up in a pretty bow. Overall, I appreciated the history and mythology Riordan used in making Egyptology interesting for YA's and for the neat twist and turns the story took for the Kanes.
3.5 stars
tbh rick riordan rarely writes conclusions that are actually satisfying. they age like fine wine tho, the more times you read them, the more you like them, mostly thanks to the fact that i was already aware of what to expect.
the kane chronicles had a lot of potential to stand out, it isn't just a percy jackson rip-off with egyptian mythology, but something completely different, and i do appreciate the trilogy for what it does. and let's be real, if i had got my hands on these when i was the target audience, i'd have eaten them up, and even years later i still got some enjoyment out of them. i still like a good middle-grade, but this had many flaws. the humor still works though.
this series didn't need romance. the whole carter-zia thing lacks chemistry and feels forced(mainly because there is no depth to the characters), and the anubis-sadie-walt love triangle is just weird as fuck, especially how it was resolved. and considering, that sadie is around 12-13?
the plot is rather boring compared to the previous instalments, and the conclusion sadly lacks climax.
