Sometimes you don’t really understand something until you destroy it.
To be perfectly candid, I could only get through this because I wanted to move on to The Mark of Athena as soon as I can. The story was still boring even when my kindle had reached the 60% mark. It was like anticipating for something that never came. And the lack of chemistry in the romances didn't help either. Sadie's love life is super confusing too—it wasn't clear why she likes Anubis and Walt past her superficial infatuation.
Despite the threat that the world would plunge into darkness forever if Sadie and Carter fail to defeat Apophis, the main conflict didn't feel high stake. It's a shame that the execution of Egyptian mythology isn't as interesting as Rick's other books or Marvel's Moon Knight. I'm very sorry to say that this is his weakest series so far.
