I love a good friends to lovers trope and I absolutely loved the Christmas novella that came after this so I knew I had to read this one too. I enjoyed it as usual with anything Corinne touches!

I really wanted to like this one more. While it was a cute read, it missed a lot of marks for me. I never really felt connected to Willow and Reid. We never really saw their friendship develop. We were just supposed to know that they were flirty best friends. Without reading any history on them, I felt like I was thrown in to the middle of a tv series. I needed more to connect with them and believe their relationship, and I just didn't get that. From the beginning, I almost didn't want to finish the book, but I HATE not finishing books so I kept going. There were little parts that I did enjoy- Willow's mom, Willow's cooking, Aspen, the business... While I'm at it, the whole matchmaking business? I feel like they started that storyline and then it quickly disappeared. Reading the synopsis, I thought the business would've played a much bigger role in the story. The last straw for me was towards the end. Willow and Reid had a huge fight and given how important the topic of the fight was, I thought it would've lasted longer. Instead, he comes over, says sorry, and they have sex. A few chapters later they have another huge argument and it gets solved in a few chapters. This completely frustrated me because I just don't see that happening in real life that quickly, if at all. Overall, the story was cute and had some huge potential. While it fell really short for me, I can see how others would fall in love with it.

Imperfect Match was the cute, fun, and slightly emotional friends-to-lovers romcom I so desperately needed. When I started reading Willow and Reid's story, I was coming off three consecutive heart wrenches. This book was a breath of fresh air.
The amazing banter alone made me giddy. I become a total fangirl for good banter. Willow and Reid's back and forth was everything. These two had such a fabulous connection. It felt natural and real. I couldn't get enough. I not gonna lie. I'm pretty obsessed with their friendship.
Now, while I did very much like this story, I will say the ending fell a little flat and the conflict was a tad bit repetitive for me. This shouldn't deter anyone from reading Imperfect Match though. It really was a very enjoyable read. Plus Melanie Harlow and Corinne Michaels together is like a freakin' dream team.

Finding your best friend his perfect match should be easy - right? I mean that is what Willow does for a living....but when she starts to set up Reid on his dates things do not go the way she plans. Will she be able to let him go so he can get the HEA he does not want? Will he let her give up her dream of becoming a mom when it will not be out of love but a procedure in the doctor's office? The reader cannot help but fall in love with Reid and Willow. The story had me laughing out loud and wiping tears from my cheeks. An emotional journey filled with hope, love and friendship that is a must read.

I've read books by Corinne Michaels (she's one of my favorite authors!) and I've read books by Melanie Harlow; so when these two paired up to co-write, I was super excited! I read their co-written book "Hold You Close" last year and couldn't wait for more!
Imperfect Match is a friends-to-lovers book. Reid and Willow have been best friends for a few years, and spend all their free time together. And while they're the best of friends, what they want for the future is different. Throw in crazy siblings- one that lives on your couch and another that is a free-spirit, a mother that owns a matchmaking business, and a love of food, and you've got a hit on your hands!
There's a great balance of humor and seriousness to Imperfect Match. I loved Reid and Willow! My one issue is that the ending seemed a bit rushed- things got resolved relatively quickly and then the book ended. But the bonus epilogue (if you subscribed to Corinne Michaels' and Melanie Harlow's mailer) was great! I definitely will read Imperfect Match again!

Contemporary Romance/RomCom Standalone
I was having such a hard time focusing on books, so I grabbed one by two authors who I know never disappoint. And I was right! Melanie Harlow and Corinne Michaels brought their A-Game to Imperfect Match, and the friends-lovers romance is one I wholeheartedly recommend.
Willow is 32 and needs to get started on her life plan of taking over her mother’s matchmaking business and having a baby. But there are a few problems with this plan: She’s really not good at matchmaking, and she is single with no baby daddy prospects outside of the local sperm bank.
In order to prove herself able to take over her mother’s business, Willow took the challenge of fixing up her best friend and across-the-hall neighbor, Reid, and finding him his perfect match. She and Reid have been best friends for a long time, and they never even thought of crossing the line together, but her setting him up with other women, and him thinking of someone else getting her pregnant made them both realize that they had more feelings than they thought.
This couple was everything! Their friendship was wonderful and fun before it became more than friendship—then it got even better!
“Are you laughing at my erection?” he asks, his voice gravelly.
“I would never,” I say, putting a hand over my mouth.
“Good, because there is nothing funny about my dick. It is a very serious, very large, very important thing.”
I burst out laughing. “Is that so?”
There was a lot of funny banter and a really cute relationship, but there were serious, emotional moments and hurdles to get over as well. This is not an angst-free romance. It was the perfect blend of fun and angst to keep me listening into the night.

- •They had such a great friendship! They were each other’s person before they really became that.
- •I laughed out loud many times.
- •The sexual chemistry was off the charts.
- •Though this was a very happy, smiley book, there were some heavy moments that really made the book special.

You can never go wrong with Andi Arndt and Jason Clarke! Their friendship felt so real!
The Down & Dirty:
Imperfect Match by Melanie Harlow and Corinne Michaels was SO CUTE. It was the perfect combination of fun banter, friendship, chemistry and angst. I loved the friendship, and it got even better when they realized they felt more than friendship. If you are looking for a feel-good read that will make you smile so hard your cheeks hurt, check out Imperfect Match.

I love a good friends to lovers story! Willow and Reid are incredible. The story flows well and there is a lot of chemistry. Loved it!

Sweet and adorable. Normally, I am not a huge friends to lovers fan because it can feel forced or unrealistic, but not this book. It's swoony and cute, and I loved their relationship and banter. I liked how both of them struggled with the "should we or shouldn't we" aspect of changing their friendship into more.
The only part I struggled with in this book, is I think Reid gets over the issues dooming their relationship too quickly; it seems a little unrealistic. He is all gung-ho about never marrying or having children and then I understand why they needed a quick turnaround with Willow wanting to start the fertility treatments asap. So this might just be a "me" thing, but I just found it unrealistic that he was able to completely shift his convictions that quickly without therapy or any meaningful conversations, and it is the only reason I deducted a star.
However, the writing and the plot for the rest of the book was superb and worthy of 5 stars. A great read I recommend to anyone who loves friends to lovers.
