- WOW WOW WOW, I LOVED THIS BOOK! I think this will probably be one of my top books this year, and it is definitely my favorite one that I've read so far!
- I've always loved Mary E Pearson's writing, and she did not disappoint at all in this book. In fact, I think she blew all her other books out of the water! She has a way of transporting you into her books, and it just makes you so much more invested and in love with the characters
- If I thought the romance in the Remnant Chronicles was complicated and full of betrayals, it was nothing compared to this book. You go on a freaking roller coaster with these characters! I really enjoyed the dual POV, because it let you see all the inner turmoil that the characters were having, and made you feel bad for both sides. The romance was so sweet and different, and I loved watching them open up to each other (forced proximity)
- The characters in this book were incredible! Not only the main characters, but all the side/supporting characters were amazingly written, and the found-family/real family was so great to watch
- Because this book continues after the events in the Remnant Chronicles, we get to hear about/see characters from the original trilogy, which made me so happy! I always want to know what happened after for characters, and in this book I got some of my answers! Having a well-established world allowed Pearson to build even further on what she has already created, so she was able to develop a rich world full of so much history and cultures, which makes this book special
- This book had a much grittier feel to it than the Remnant Chronicles, which I actually really enjoyed. The characters and their interactions were dynamic and full of secrets, lies, and betrayals, meaning that there was never a dull moment. Just pick up this book and read it please!!!

This was a book outside of my comfort zone. The beginning was hard to get through due to the world building but it wasn’t too bad and it’s to be expected. I thought the romance happened a bit too fast for how slow it got in the middle. The pacing was off for me. It didn’t rock my world but I am excited to read the next book.

-Couldn't put it down! The last 100 pages actually had my heart racing
-I loved the backstory of both main characters, and the personal relationships each had. (Jase's family, Kazi and the Rahtan)
-Absolutely loved the friendship of Kazi, Synové, and Wren! Girl power was strong
-The characters all had beautiful names
-I loved the element of the spirits/ghosts that Kazi (and maybe all Vendans?) could see. I liked how it wasn't the most important part of Kazi's character, but it also didn't feel out of place or nonsensical.
-Reading about thievery is always fun for me so I loved reading Kazi's tricks/methods
-I did feel like the ending was wrapped up very nicely. The main conflict was solved, so I'm interested to see what the next book's plot will be. Will it have as high of stakes as this one? Stakes that involve multiple kingdoms? Or will it be more focused on Tor's Watch and the Ballengers?
